It's my Birthday!

Last year was my thirtieth, so no prizes for guessing how old I am today... I had a list of things (big and small) that I'd like. In the past year, the thing at the top of my list - I got!!!!!Our own home! Oddly enough, I have also been given pretty much everything else on that list!

In fact, I have been so generously blessed that Robin complained my giftlist was now boring! (and short) Nonetheless, he has already treated me to some lovely things - including a fab breakfast which was not even on the list but he knows I really enjoy. Plus the sun is out which is a gift in itself.

Thank you family and friends for the cards, emails and texts (mum wins for sheer quantity of texts!) I'm about to enjoy today a little more by enjoying going out to lunch with my Mum.

Where do you all go on holiday?

As a family we suck at holidays. In the ten years we have been married - we haven't even managed a two week holiday - it's always been a week or less! (it's tragic - I know!)

And each time we do have the funds to consider a holiday we find so many things are a problem. Things like transfers and travel to and from airports (or pricey airport parking) have frequently priced us out of a holiday overseas. In fact, our kids have not flown, yet.

Last year we were rather brave and used Great Escapes to pull together a last minute trip to Disneyland which was good on the whole (won't rush to go again though I don't think) This was probably the nearest to a package holiday that we've had.

We also had a short break the year before at Centre Parcs, and whilst the woodland location was lovely, we found the accomoadation pretty careworn and the way they herd you in, and then ban your cars to the car park was a real put off. Plus, although there were many activites on offer - every single one (apart from swimming or walking) you had to pay for.

Mostly though, the package style holiday does not appeal as they pile you into bland, high rise, hotels with uninspiring food and facilities. Whilst at the same time - if we could find someplace where they'd feed you, provide activities for the whole family and accomodate you in a comfortable, well maintained 'home from home' well, then you'd been talking!

Today I am desperatly trying to find somewhere to have a reasonably priced family holiday, with things like a pool (indoor if in a more temperate area!!) and things to do for us all - any suggestions???? Please!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scooting to school

A few weeks ago we bought both kids a scooter. I was pleased to find cheap ones that fold up pretty small in Argos, and delighted to have them on offer as well!

Niether child has so far mastered riding a bike and I hope they'll improve on their balance, but also, we make so many trips to and from school I was really hoping for something to make the trips more fun.

Now the scooters remain by the door, at the ready, to go out every time we do - they are a resounding sucess. Many of the kids go to school around here on foot or scooter so they are also enjoying being part of the club there too! Plus, the extra trips to Brownies and after school club (at present without my car) are going a lot smoother, and faster with wheels.

We give thumbs up to our super scooters!
